My Story

I have always had a fascination with the human body and what is required for it to function optimally. I remember as a small child I would sit and flip through the pages of anatomy textbooks and was mesmerized by the intricate nature of the body. However, my true appreciation for health didn’t come until my own health deteriorated and I was left with very few treatment options and many questions on how I can improve my quality of life.

My journey to better health started in 2008 after my health and quality of life started to rapidly deteriorate following an appendectomy. My autonomic nervous system became erratic and dysfunctional and I began to struggle with low blood pressure, digestive problems, rapid heart rates and chronic fatigue. My lowest point was lying in a hospital bed, unable to sit up with out nearly passing out. Soon after I was referred to cardiology where I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome and I was also seen by a geneticist who diagnosed me with Classical Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder. So finally I knew what issues I was dealing with, but unfortunately there is no cure and treatment options are limited. However, I was not willing to accept that I was going to feel this way for the rest of my life. Something had to change.

My health crisis was a catalyst for that change and I began contacting other people who had these conditions, finding out how they managed their symptoms. After much research and seeking answers from multiple sources, I found that much of my answers for managing my symptoms came from a functional medicine approach. I then created a specific diet and supplement regimen that was tailored for my unique body and health issues. After a little over 6 months on my program I created for myself, I started to see big improvements. My low blood pressure became more manageable and my energy levels were soaring. My digestion and elimination became more regular and I no longer felt pain and bloating after meals. I was slowly gaining more control over my health and my life. Now, 10 years later, I am in better health then I ever was before. Rather than seeing a decline in my health as I get older, I am seeing improvements constantly.

After this experience I became fascinated with nutritional sciences and this fascination led me to study Holistic Nutrition at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. I have a special interest in Autoimmune disease and Neurodegenerative disease prevention. I also have a strong interest in Women’s health, hormonal imbalances and menstrual disorders in particular. Hormones can have a significant impact on mental health and when they become imbalanced, overall quality of life is reduced.

My mission is to educate and empower my clients to take back control of their health. I am here to provide the tools and support that is needed when embarking on a healing journey. My goal is to encourage and inspire my clients to take these tools and knowledge and integrate it into their life so that they can live in a more balanced and positive way that is supportive of their whole health, body, mind and spirit. Life is about thriving and not just surviving!
